Vacancy

St Charles Borromeo is seeking to appoint a Caretaker to work in our friendly and successful school

This post is for 4 hours a day (am preferred) for 5 days a week in the school term time. A more flexible working pattern can be adopted in the school holidays. Overtime may be required on an ad hoc basis. Start date ASAP.

We are looking for a personable and adaptable individual who will be responsible for porterage, the checking of goods deliveries, statutory health and safety checks together with building and grounds maintenance. Routine cleaning is carried out by a contract cleaning company and is not part of the caretaker’s job description. However, the school caretaker will be required to undertake some ad hoc cleaning tasks and to oversee the extra hygiene provisions that we have put in place in response to COVID-19. The successful candidate will be reliable, trustworthy and have a good all round knowledge of basic DIY. The candidate must also possess a level of physical fitness commensurate with the role. Experience of working in premises maintenance is highly desirable. Training and support in all aspects of health and safety within the school will be given.

The position is offered for 20 hours per week on the Surrey 5 pay scale which is in the range of £21,593 to £23,834 FTE (or £11,876 to £13,108 pro rata), depending on experience.  The post also offers 26 days of annual leave (rising to 28 days after 2 years of service and 30 days after 5 years) which must be taken in the school holidays.

A job description and person specification is attached to this advert. Applications must be made on the attached Support Staff application form. CVs are not acceptable.

Applications close at 17:00 on Friday 16 September 2020. Interviews will take place on Wednesday 23 September 2020 and references will be sought prior to interview. Visits to the school prior to application are warmly welcomed, but must be booked in advance.

St Charles Borromeo Catholic Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post will be conditional on the successful candidate undergoing an enhanced DBS clearance check.
