Use of cookies on e4education websites

A cookie is a small file saved to a users device when the user accesses certain websites.  These cookies can then be read when a user moves around the site and each subsequent time the user visits the site, depending on the type of cookie used.  Cookies are useful as they can allow a website to store information about a user, such as whether they are logged into a website or for analytical purposes to track visits to a website.

On the 25th May 2011 the UK introduced an amendment to the "Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations".  The amendment covers the use of cookies and similar technologies for storing information and accessing information stored on a user's equipment, such as their computer or mobile phone.

If we need, or would like, to use a cookie that is not included in the exceptions allowed under the regulation stated above we will ask your permission before doing so.  Rejecting some cookies could render parts of the site unusable, in this instance we will inform you.

Some cookies that might be used are exempted from the regulation stated above and we do not ask permission before adding these to your device.  These cookies are used for the purpose of maintaining choices you have made, for example whether to hide or show an element of the website such as a slideshow.
