Pupils in Years 3-5 have swimming lessons at Hurst Pool with suitably qualified staff. This is tailored to their swimming ability and they have the opportunity to gain recognised swimming awards.

Hurst Pool work to the National Governing Body for Swimming's (ASA) Learn to Swim Pathway in all their sessions, offering children seven stages of lessons to develop the skills needed for children to be competent, confident and safe in the water. 

From Year 6 2022/23, 97% of pupils could swim competently/confidently/proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres, 70% of the class doing so using a range of strokes effectively. 93% had covered "performing safe self-rescue" either as part of their swimming lessons at Hurst Pool or through private instruction. 

From Year 6 2021/22, 87% of pupils could swim competently/confidently/proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres, 83% of the class doing so using a range of strokes effectively. 63% had covered "performing safe self-rescue" either as part of their swimming lessons at Hurst Pool or through private instruction.
