Vacancies

St Charles Borromeo is seeking to appoint a Teaching and Learning Assistant to work in our friendly and successful school.

This post is not only suited to an experienced Learning Support Assistant,  but we will also consider individuals returning to work in Education after a break, or to someone considering a career in education who would like to gain experience in a school setting. We can offer training and mentoring from teachers who have extensive educational experience. The school benefits from polite and engaging pupils, together with supportive parents and governors.

We are looking for a personable, flexible and dynamic individual, with a good competency in both Maths and English. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and will be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in teaching and learning. In addition, the job holder should expect to get involved in all aspects of school life and should relish variety; with the opportunity to work across different year groups and also with children who have additional needs.

The position is initially offered as a fixed term contract to start as soon as possible and end on 19 July 2024, with the possibility of an extension into the following Academic year. It is offered for 31 hours per week (on a term time only basis) on the Surrey 3 pay scale which is in the range of £21,269 to £21,776 FTE (or £15,595 to £15,966 pro rata), depending on experience.  There is an expectation that the job holder will do lunchtime duties, and this is included in the above calculations.  A variation to the 5 day working week may be considered for the right candidate. The post comes with automatic enrolment onto the Local Government Pension scheme, which is a valuable part of the reward package for public sector employees.

Applications close at 16:00 on Friday the 23rd of February 2024. Interviews will take place on Friday  1st of March 2024 and, unless you object, references will be sought prior to interview. Visits to the school prior to application are warmly welcomed.

St Charles Borromeo Catholic Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post will be conditional on the successful candidate undergoing an enhanced DBS clearance check.
